API Providers
API Providers are banks that joined the API Centre, some of which have built standardised APIs for use by contracted third parties.
The following API Providers have built standardised APIs and are ready to partner with third parties. You can find out more about the service they offer, and more about open banking, on their websites.
ANZ has been a member of the API Centre since 2019, when the Centre was founded.
ANZ is currently partnering with BlinkPay (who offers Blink PayNow) and Worldline, the company behind Online EFTPOS.
ASB has been a member of the API Centre since 2019, when the Centre was founded.
ASB is currently partnering with BlinkPay (who offers Blink PayNow), Qippay and Volley.
BNZ has been a proud member of the API Centre since its inception in 2019, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of open banking in New Zealand. Prior to joining the Centre, BNZ was one of the pioneering banks that participated in the open banking pilot, a foundational initiative that laid the groundwork for the API Centre’s establishment. Kiwibank has been a member of the API Centre since 2019, when the Centre was founded.
Kiwibank will provide payments initiation APIs by 30 May 2026 and Account Information APIs by 30 November 2026.
Westpac NZ has been a member of the API Centre since 2019 and, prior to that, was part of the open banking pilot that led to the establishment of the API Centre.

Third Parties
Third Parties are any organisation that joins the API Centre and intends to partner with API Providers so they can offer secure open banking-enabled apps and services. Some third parties have API Services agreements (contracts) with API Providers and have apps and services in market for customer to use, or do so in the near future.
Akahu offers open finance intermediary services
Akahu provides open finance intermediary services to a broad range of government, corporate, and fintech customers in the New Zealand market.
Akahu also offers a range of ancillary services, such as transaction enrichment, loan application processing, and APIs-as-a-service.
Akahu currently has API Services agreements (contracts) in place with ANZ, ASB, BNZ and Westpac.
BlinkPay offers an in-market payment gateway (Blink PayNow) and the development of data services for smarter payments

Volley is a new “Pay by Bank” service for New Zealand, offering peer-to-peer payments for consumers and simple payment acceptance for merchants, all built on top of regulated Open Banking APIs.
For consumers, Volley lets you create a payment link with a message and amount, then share it via Messenger, WhatsApp, SMS and more; your recipient approves the payment securely in their banking app, with no account numbers or additional apps required.
For merchants, Volley enables Pay-by-Bank acceptance via link or QR code, with customers confirming each payment in their banking app. Its fixed-cost pricing makes it ideal for invoices, direct credits, and any situation where traditional card fees are prohibitive.
Worldline offers Online EFTPOS, Online EFTPOS – Repeat Pay & Direct Pay
Since launching New Zealand’s first open banking payment solution—Online EFTPOS—back in 2016, Worldline has been a leading force behind a more open, competitive payments environment in New Zealand.
